There are only a few days until Easter and I still have candy to buy, lots of eggs to fill {and hide}, dinner to plan…. but hey, why not throw in a last-minute Easter decoration? I promise it is super easy AND it involves my new favorite crafting supply.
Washi tape.
Recognize it? Yep. It’s the recently-made-famous washi tape from Target. You get 4 rolls for $4! That’s one heck of a deal people 🙂 The first time I went looking for it, I couldn’t find it! Desiree at the 36th Avenue provided some pictures (in this post) of the exact location to help us out… thank you!
I also picked up a set of lavendar decorative tape from Michael’s {Recollections brand.}
Now that I finally have my hands on this stuff I’ve been thinking of all sorts of fun ways to use it. I really love all the cute bunny “silhouette” projects I’ve seen pinned for Easter, like this one from the talented girls at Uncommon Designs. I decided to make my own version using washi tape.
I wanted to figure out a way to make the silhouette shape into a single adhesive sheet, so it could be applied to my canvas smoothly… almost like a sheet of washi tape vinyl. So, here’s what I came up with.
You’ll need:
- Rabbit silhouette {for your pattern} Download PDF here
- Contact paper
- Canvas of your choice
- Assorted washi tape
This is so darn cute! I love it! I wasn’t planning on going to the store today, but I just might have to head over to Target. I love the monogram idea too!
ok girls….PRECIOUS!!! Got my washi at Target too!! thanks for the shout out too! 🙂
Really adorable! I have yet to jump into the washi tape craze, but not because I don’t like it. I’ve loved everything I’ve seen made 🙂
Oh my gosh that’s too cute!! I have got to find that stuff!!!
What a creative and fun idea!! I haven’t tried out that washi tape yet, but it looks just beautiful in what you’ve done. Enjoy your weekend. Megan

I’ve been wondering what this WASHI tape stuff was– thanks for explaining it! Funny, I went to two different Targets today and still want to head out again tonight to get this tape! It will have to wait until tomorrow…can’t wait to try it. Thanks! Found you through Tatertots and Jello.

Your washi tape bunny is adorable! I’ve never seen or heard of washi tape, but now I want some so I can make awesome silhouettes like yours 🙂 Bummer we don’t have Target here – I’ll have to hit up some craft stores and see what I can find.
Thanks for the crafty inspiration 🙂

This is so incredibly adorable!! I can definitely see something like this on my Easter mantle next year 🙂
I love it. Love rabbits.
I have a bunny that was given to us when the previous owners didn’t want her anymore. I love her. So now I notice bunnies and rabbits like never before. I clicked on your link from “a pumpkin and a princess”. I am so glad she posted your link. This bunny of yours is so pretty. I don’t have washi tape available here. If I did your bunny would be the first thing I made with it. thank you for sharing, Debra Kapellakis your newest subscriber 😀
