Video Games can be Active AND Educational!

November 20, 2014 Leave a Comment Holly & Nat

Do your kids love to play video games? Do you ever worry that they aren’t getting anything of value from all that time spent in front of the screen? I’m excited to share our review of a HOT new toy that’s on many gift lists this year. LeapTV from the makers of LeapFrog is a new gaming system that gets kids minds and bodies moving while having fun!

Designed specifically for ages 3-8, this new system is great for the whole family! We invited cousins over for a fun day of play last weekend and had fun testing it out.

I love that there are 3 different ways to play – with the included controller (which converts into 2 different types of game playing)…

…And my kids’ favorite – the motion-sensing camera! They loved jumping, dancing, and playing sports in this Body-Motion game mode! As a parent, I like that in between games there are math and other learning activities they have to complete to get to the next portion of the game. Check out some clips of one of the kids favorites from the LeapTV Sports game – Soccer! The camera senses every block and kick and kept my kids moving constantly!

My kindergartner was really excited about the reading/letter activities, and my 3-year old was great at the shape and color recognition questions. There really is something for everyone! You can set up profiles for each player and customize to age and learning stage, which is great for families.

There is also a fun free-dance game that the girls went crazy for! They can see themselves on the screen and they really liked that!

The LeapTV gaming system comes with everything you need to get started and was very simple to set up. There is one built-in game included, and separate games can be purchased including the two pictured, and others that kids will love from Disney – Sophia and Jake to name a few!

I think this would make a great family gift for the holidays!
I’m so excited to have something to play indoors when it’s cold this winter that will keep my kids moving AND learning!

Disclosure: I received free products in order to host this LeapFrog sponsored MommyParty.
