Thanksgiving Wreath & Arrow Tutorial

November 7, 2012 4 Comments Holly & Nat

I’ve decided to go ahead and decorate for Fall/Thanksgiving, even though we only have a few weeks left before the Christmas decorations will be coming out in full swing! I wanted to add a few whimsical touches to my decor this year, besides the standard pumpkins, gourds, and indian corn. So when I saw this cool arrow in Jaime‘s fall vignette, I wanted to re-create in a simple way. It makes the perfect addition to my corn husk wreath for Thanksgiving, don’t you think?

It can’t get much simpler than this. I started out with a cardboard box:
I drew the arrow shapes, then cut them out with my handy dandy kitchen scissors. I wanted the arrow to look like old wood, so I added water to my paint to give it more of a white-washed finish.
To add some texture and dimension, I wrapped the center section of the arrow with string.

I tucked it into my wreath and that’s it! I really love it!

What are you doing for Thanksgiving decor at your place? Or do you just skip it and go straight to Christmas? Speaking of Christmas… check out my very first holiday project of the season over at I Heart Naptime. I’m kinda crazy about it. In fact, there will be more to come on that subject. Curious yet??
