Our summer vacation has officially begun, and it is finally starting to warm up here in Idaho! I don’t have a summertime wreath for my door, so I decided to make something versatile enough to last until fall. I kept it pretty simple. I love succulents, so I made them the focal point of my new summer wreath:
I started out with an 18″ plain straw wreath, some faux succulents and other greenery. I also used a roll of burlap ribbon I picked up at Michaels with a coupon 🙂 It covered the wreath easily and provided a neutral backdrop for my beautiful succulents.
Tip: Leave the plastic wrap on the wreath and cover right over it with your burlap or other material. Otherwise, pieces of straw will get everywhere!
Once the burlap covered the entire wreath, I secured it in the back with hot glue and starting adding the succulents and greenery. It took me less than 10 minutes to finish the whole thing! Isn’t it pretty?
I used some moss-covered twine I picked up at a local boutique to hang the wreath, and I think it adds the perfect amount of texture. The finished look is very simple and clean. Just what I was going for.
{Check out some of my other simple DIY wreaths HERE and HERE.} We are enjoying our first day of vacation from school and you can bet that the kiddos and I will be outside in the sunshine! Hope you have some fun plans for the weekend!
