Print out this Summer Reading Bingo chart to help motivate your kids to read more this summer! You can give small prizes or rewards as they earn a Bingo, and then something special when the entire card is filled. This is an awesome way to involve kids of all ages in a simple summer reading program at home!
Our mom instilled a love of books and reading in both Nat and I at a very young age! We have lots of wonderful memories of being at the library and checking out bags full of books. We’ve hoped to carry that love of reading on to our own kids, and we try to make reading books enjoyable in our homes. I’ve discovered that some of my kids have a natural love for reading, and others need a lot more encouragement (and the occasional bribe) to get in their reading minutes.
How to motivate your kids to read with Summer Reading Bingo
- Choose fun books – Find books that make them think creatively, are about something they love, or just make them laugh!
- Read with them – All kids love spending one-on-one time with their parents, and reading together can create a special bond and increase their desire to read more!
- Make it a game – To make reading more fun this summer, we’ve created this Summer Reading Bingo card:

I also created one of my kids’ favorite games inspired by one of our most-loved books, When the Duckling Gets a Cookie.
