Summer Reading Bingo Card + Printable Blog Hop

July 16, 2013 20 Comments Holly & Nat

Between all the games, swimming lessons, parties and vacations are you finding time to keep your kids learning this summer? When I taught elementary school, I saw kids (especially in the younger grades) fall behind during the summer if they weren’t doing ONE thing. Reading! Whether they’re being read to, learning to read, or reading those huge thick books from their favorite series, kids NEED to read over the summer! So today I’m sharing some tips to make it a little more FUN to fit in reading time during the busy summer!
This Summer Reading Bingo printable is full of ideas for all ages to make reading a little more exciting. Yup, that’s my daughter reading in a (dry) bathtub! You will score some serious cool mom points if you let your kids do it.

I made the printable customizable for your child(ren) – just put the number of minutes for each day at the top, then add some goals or rewards at the bottom. It is recommended that children of all ages read or are read to at least 20 minutes a day! This starts even with your littlest ones – obviously being read to. For my 4-year old, we are going to be working on these ideas together. You can adapt as needed.

Get your Printable Reading Bingo Card here:
I’ve created 3 different versions for you to choose from:
Blank (to fill in with your own ideas) Color and Black & White
That’s not all! We have the Printable Blog Hop for you again – and this month all the printables are great for SUMMER! We feel like, totally spolied to be a part of this group – so please go visit these awesome blogs and download their free printables! Have a fabulous rest of your summer!

What a fun list! My girls love reading, so it’s not hard to get them to do it, but they’d still love some of these twists. Then I could do much better w/ my 4-yo boy 🙂

I can’t see half the squares either, any chance there is another download that doesn’t have things missing? I love it and can’t wait to use it.

Hello. I’m a 1st grade teacher and would love to be able to customize this into a homework reading BINGO. Do you have a Word version of this that I could tweak to fit my class needs? I tried downloading the blank one and it downloaded as a pdf in google docs. I couldn’t type anything on it! Please let me know. Thanks.
