One of my favorite things about summer is swimming with my kids. My least favorite thing, is finding wet swimsuits and towels on the floor after an outing!! So I decided to convert an unused space in our garage to a swimming organization center. With the help of FrogTape’s Shape Tape, I was able to create a fun summer look!
Here is a look at the before and after:
I created some custom hooks with these wooden hexagons, after painting them white. I added a pop of color with 3 different shades of blue acrylic paint, and I used Shape Tape™ in Scallop to create the ocean wave design. I love how it adds to the beachy theme!
The Shape Tape™ was so easy to apply! I adhered a long strip of tape all the way across the hexagons, and then started painting the lightest color of blue paint. When you are creating a pattern like this, you want to make sure it looks as clean and crisp as possible. The PaintBlock® technology is pretty awesome because it forms a micro-barrier that completely seals the edges of the tape to prevent paint bleed.
As soon as I was done painting the first color, I removed the tape right away and it looked perfect!
Then I applied another strip of tape, staggering the scallop pattern to create the next row of “waves,” like this:
Here is a close up of the two colors:
You can see the colors better in person, but I love the ombre look! Finally, I added the third strip of tape and painted the final color and here is the result…
After adding some unique hooks, the wall is complete! I love having a fun and functional storage solution for all our summer gear! What summer projects are on your DIY list? For more information and great ideas, be sure to follow ShapeTape™ on Pinterest and Twitter.
