Reward Kids With A Family Movie Night

July 21, 2014 4 Comments Holly & Nat

This shop is part of a social shopper marketing insight campaign with Pollinate Media Group® Pop Secret and Fox Entertainment, but all my opinions are my own. #pmedia  #PopForRio2 http://my-disclosur.es/OBsstV

As our summer is sadly coming to an end, I’ve noticed my kids (and I) have gotten into a rut. It’s hot outside, and in the afternoons we end up staying in and spending a little too much time watching TV or using the computer/iPad. To motivate our family to spend more TIME together (without technology) we decided to have a special Family Movie Night just once a week.

We thought it would be fun to get a new movie none of us had seen, and of course one that we would all enjoy. Rio 2 was just released on DVD and was a perfect fit!

I picked up the Rio 2 DVD at Walmart along with a few party supplies,
and then told the family about our plan.

We worked on our chart together and the kids LOVED it. I tried to include a good mix of exercise, helping around the house, and fun or silly activities. They couldn’t wait for the night of our big party!

Here’s how we made our Family Movie Night really special for the kids. I made a simple and inexpensive backdrop with tablecloths, tissue paper, and paper fans. We invited the cousins and set everything up for a fun night!

You can’t have Movie Night without popcorn! To make it easy I grabbed some yummy Pop Secret Popcorn when I bought the DVD. It made our movie snack quick and easy! Guess what? I have a coupon for you to use on YOUR next at-home Movie Night!

When the cousins arrived, everyone got to decorate their own popcorn cup with their name and fun Rio 2 stickers we found at Walmart, too! It was easier to hold than a bowl and everyone loved finding their favorite characters from the movie.

Add some party umbrellas to juice boxes and you’ll have a festive (and not too messy) drink to sip on while you watch! We loved the fun music in Rio 2 – I dare you to try not dancing along!

Good morning, very cute party idea! I completed all entries in the giveaway, but for some reason, I am unable to paste the link to my tweet on my iPad, the screen won’t allow it, but I’ll paste it here. And I’ll try it again later. Thanks.
