Over the past few months I’ve been working on making over our upstairs bonus room, which is where my family spends the most time together. This space includes a study area for my kids, my desk and work space, and our only TV. Because we spend so much time here, it’s important to make each area multi-functional, kid friendly, and pretty too! So I was thrilled to find these Square Organizer shelves from Sauder to make a reading nook area for the kids.
For the shelf styling, I decided to display artwork the kids had created, our collection of vintage children’s classics, and white ceramic animals and accessories to keep it clean and simple. It is perfect for our family space.
I took two of the square organizers and stacked them to create a taller bookshelf. (They are not technically designed to be used stacked on top of each other, so you need to make sure you securely anchor the top shelf to the wall if you decide to style them this way.) They were really fun to style like this, but we have since taken down the top shelving system and I am using them separately in the room. I will post pictures of that soon!
My toddler loves to pull out the basket of her books and “read” them to herself, and my kids like to sit and read, or lay on some of our big floor pillows and relax.
I love how all the colors tie in with our vintage school desks in the kids’ study area.
These shelves are so versatile, which is perfect for me because I am constantly switching things up in my spaces! The great thing about Sauder furniture is that you can get stylish, functional pieces that are totally affordable.
