A few months ago we started a new Friday night tradition: Family Movie Night! We plan a special treat and cuddle up on the couch for a movie – usually a classic Disney movie that my husband and I enjoyed as kids. Last weekend we switched it up and went with a brand-new Disney release, Monsters University!
Our family has been looking forward to this release ever since we took the kids to see MU in the theater right before school started. It was actually my son’s first and daughter’s second movie theater experience, so we had a blast! I thought it was hilarious! The day Monsters University was released we snatched up this combo pack at Wal-Mart that includes 2 disc Blu-Ray + DVD + a Mike Infinity figure.
The kids always want to stop at the “Toy Island (aisle)” as my 2 year old calls it, and this trip was no exception! We picked up this awesome playset and Monsters University figures that go with it. I lee my daughter get the pack with the girl figures – I love that three-eyed “Python Nu Kappa”sorority girl!
For our Monsters University viewing party, I made this fun printable game to get the kids involved in making the treat. You can spin the arrow to build a monster – one part at a time! My daughter especially liked this part of the movie night because she always wants to help me cook!
You can download and print the FREE printable here: Build-A-Monster Game
- sugar cookies (your favorite recipe or store-bought dough)
- frosting (we loved this whipped cream cheese flavor)
- sliced fresh fruit : strawberries, grapes, banana, etc
- other toppings as desired: candy eyes, licorice, chocolate chips, colored marshmallows, pretzels
- Bake cookies as directed in round or cutout shapes.
- Color frosting if desired and frost cookies.
- Add fruit and other toppings to make your Monster! Enjoy!
And here are our final monster creations!
This would be so fun for a birthday party, playdate, or just special movie night.
Have you see Monsters University? Who loved it more – your kids or you? 😉
