We’ve lived in our new home for almost 7 months now, and I am trying to infuse my style little by little. If I had to put a label on the decor of our main living space, I would call it Modern Farmhouse. I love certain classic farmhouse elements, but I also enjoy furniture with modern lines and bold color. So here is my take on Thanksgiving decor this year.
I don’t like to spend a lot of money on Fall decorations, just because I only keep them up for a few weeks between Halloween and Thanksgiving. This year I found several great items at Target in the dollar spot, and incorporated them with items I already had around my home. Here are some of my Target purchases, which I gave a sneak peek of earlier this week on Instagram:
The GATHER banner was the starting point for my color inspiration. I just couldn’t resist that Navy blue gingham check! I replaced the ribbon it came with (which was brown) with this blue & white herringbone ribbon I found at Target on clearance. The navy wood slice charger was also $3, and I added the hand lettering with a chalk marker. Finally, the darling white ceramic pumpkins were only $1 each!
I added some yarn pom poms from my craft stash to each end of the banner, and started filling in the shelf space with dishes and other items from my home.
I had a cute mustard gold pillow from last year (also Target!) that I threw on my navy couch, and used some of the leftover mustard pom stems from this project.
I’m so excited to be hosting Thanksgiving for my family at our house this year! For so many years we have lived too far for everyone to travel for the weekend, but now we are close enough that everyone is making the trip up from St. George. It will be wonderful to share a few days together under the same roof, baking, eating, and playing lots of games!
Speaking of games, I need a few ideas for Christmas gifts this year. I like to get one family board game and a few other games for the kids every year. What are your favorites??
We have had a super warm fall so far, (not complaining) but the forecast says we will get our first snow next week! Will it stick around for the holiday? I kind of hope so! I love snowy Thanksgivings. We have had one almost every year in Idaho Falls and I’m secretly hoping for another one this year. What are your plans for Thanksgiving? Whatever they are, I hope they involve family and friends, lots of pie, and maybe some sledding (or shopping!) Haha!
