Lately I’ve had a little countdown going in my head and on my calendar. Nope, not for a vacation or someone’s birthday…it’s for the day my daughter starts preschool! She is beyond excited to be a big kid with her new Doc McStuffins backpack in tow. She’s my oldest, so this mama is hoping the transition goes smoothly! Today I’m sharing a Mini Photo Album she can take to school to remind her how much she is loved!
Here are the supplies I used to make this backpack-ready album:
- Mini Photo Album (Big Lots – $1)
- Glitter Cardstock (American Crafts)
- adhesive (I used a glue stick)
- instagram or square-cropped photos – 2 inches square
I pulled photos of Miss B with some of her favorite people and cropped them to 1.6 inches to fit 6 on a 4×6 file with the white borders. I did this in Photoshop and considered sharing a tutorial – would anyone be interested? You could also print instagram photos using a phone app (see HERE) or get 2 inch prints from Persnickety Prints.
Cut your cardstock to fit the photo album pages and attach photos.
I added ribbon to the ring to add some more girly flair! As if the glitter wasn’t enough…
For the cover I just used some old letter stickers and a scrapbooking brad. I actually had to use a craft knife to make a slit to change out the cover, but it was very easy.
I’m so excited for my little girl to start school, but I know it will be a big transition for her. I hope this little piece of home helps her on those first days in a new place!
Here are a few other Photo Projects we’ve done:
Have a wonderful weekend! Thanks for stopping by!

So cute, Nat! I should make one for Madi..ahhh I think I’m going to have a harder time than she is haha.
This is adorable – I’ve always placed one picture in my child’s lunch box but this is so sweet! Your little will love it!
What a great idea Nat!
This is so cool! My sister and I do the same, she’s in Las Vegas and I’m in London. Check us out http://www.pepajuliette.com
Super cute! When my kids started school I made them a simple felt heart. I stuffed it with kisses. (Actually I stuffed it with stuffing, but I told them it was stuffed with kisses.) I told them whenever they needed a kiss from mummy to take it out, and if it ever ran out of kisses to let me know and I’d fill it back up. When my daughter started 2nd grade I threw hers out thinking she was too old for it. She was so upset when she found out, I had to make her another heart full of kisses.
Becca,
This is such a cute idea!!! I might have to steal this and do it for my pre-schooler this fall 🙂 What a good mom you are!
