So you guys might not know this, but I’m a last-minute Christmas shopper. I am usually one of those crazy people at the post office mailing gifts out on the 22nd, and some years I have ashamedly been out getting stocking stuffers on Christmas Eve! This year, I am determined to have everything done early. For me, that means this Friday. I have 6 days people!
Thankfully, I live close to a Target. You guys know I’m pretty much addicted to that place, right? I was so excited when Target asked me to share some of the gift ideas for my kids… the perfect excuse to get organized and get my shopping done. If you are looking for gift ideas for a certain age, this is a great place to start!
First for my boys… I have a 6 and 8-year-old. Here are some things I know they would LOVE to open up on Christmas morning:
Every Christmas, we buy our kids at least one board game and one book. These are the gifts that get used the most because we love to play games together as a family. Beat the Parents is a new game that looks pretty fun… my husband and I tend to get a little competitive so luckily we will be on the same team! My boys are close enough in age that we can buy some presents for them to share, like the Skylander Swap Force game for the Wii. They have really enjoyed playing the other Skylander games together and collecting all the new figures. We’ve also heard great things about the Perplexus, so I can’t wait for the boys to try it out. The Light up construction toys, called Laser Pegs, are a new find and only available at Target. Think Legos and Lite Brite combined… what kid wouldn’t love those?
Another one of our favorite traditions is getting to open one present on Christmas Eve… it is always new pajamas and slippers. My daughter ADORES Minnie Mouse so I was dying when I found these slippers that look like Minnie’s actual shoes! She also loves Doc McStuffins and spends hours doctoring up her babies and stuffed animals at home. I know she will get a ton of playtime out of this darling doctor bag and coat dress up. One of my favorite finds was this book… haha…. you know the song, right? “What Does the Fox Say?” Are my kids the only ones who sing that ALL the time? Well, now we can read the book together! I thought this would be a fun gift for our whole family and something we can look back on later to remember 2013. One of the gifts I’m most excited for her to open is the new Klip Klop stable for the Disney Princess Little People. She got the castle last year and it is still her favorite toy to play with! This will make a fun addition to the “estate” : )
The best part about these gifts is that I can get most of them online from the comfort of my own couch (I really don’t want to go out in this Idaho weather if I don’t need to!) I got a Target Red Debit Card this year and it is so awesome. Seriously one of the best ways I saved money this year. I get 5% off everything I purchase — in the store AND online. Plus I get free shipping all the time. Totally worth it. I don’t really like credit cards so it is perfect for me because it comes right out of my checking account.
I am feeling much better about my Christmas shopping situation now. Do you guys have more shopping left to do? If so, you’re in luck!! We’re giving away a $25 Target Gift Card to one of you!
All you need to do is go to Target.com and find a perfect gift for someone on your list. Leave a comment telling us who you would give it to, include a link to the item, and your email address in the comment (so we can notify you if you win!) We will select a winner on Friday, Dec. 20th. Good Luck!
