Hey guys! Nat here (the sister who hasn’t been around on the blog much lately!) I finally found the time to squeeze in some projects and these Marquee Letters were first on my list. They are gold and glittery and pretty darn amazing, I think!
Have you seen these fun light-up Marquee Letters around blogland? (Or at your local Michael’s store?) The brilliant Heidi Swapp has created Marquee Love DIY kits that allow you to customize your own phrases and each letter’s design within the phrase. Here is what you’ll need to make your own fabulous marquee lights! (They make it so easy for you!)
- Letters of your choice (each letter sold separately) – bulbs and lights are included
- 2 AAA batteries
- Washi Tape (the Marquee line has two widths in tons of patterns and glitter that are perfectly sized to fit letter
- OR spray paint, patterned paper, glitter/Mod Podge
The possibilities really are endless! If you choose to use a patterned paper, a template is included with each letter for you to trace and punch to fit.
I used the patterned washi in the widest width for the outside of each letter, and the fun gold glitter for the inside! I loved that since it was washi I could pull off carefully and readjust quickly as needed. For reference, it took 2 rolls of the patterned washi for my 5 letters, and 1 1/2 rolls of the gold.
After you have the letters decorated, it’s time to light them up! Put the clear bulbs into each pre-punched hole, then add the white string of lights from the back. Each box contains a guide for placing the lights in the clear plastic bulbs to make is so simple! The little battery pack has an off/on switch and tucks right into the bottom of the letter so it can’t be seen.

I am in love with how my letters turned out! They were easy to make and are so versatile.
These will be going up in Baby Girl’s nursery to match the coral, navy and gold theme I’m working on.
Thanks to Tauni and the people at SNAP for providing my Heidi Swapp Marquee Love letters.
If you’re dying to get your hands on some, you can get them online HERE or at a local Michaels store!
