Felt Ball Halloween Wreath

September 9, 2014 11 Comments Holly & Nat

Halloween Felt Ball Wreath

I am a little obsessed with felted wool balls. Aren’t they just the cutest? I found some darling Halloween colored felt balls on Brickyard Buffalo a few weeks ago, from Hello Maypole. Look at her amazing stuff:

This was my first time crafting with these beauties and I wanted to do something different than just string them into a garland. Although that is super cute!! I decided I wanted to make a wreath, but I didn’t have enough balls to cover an entire wreath form.  So I came up with this idea to create a double ring wreath.

elt ball wreath materials

I started with a few options: embroidery hoops and brass rings (found them in my local craft store.) After trying out both, I decided to go with the brass rings. They come in several sizes, for about $2 each or less. I picked the 16″ and 10″ rings. First, I tried spray painting them black but the felt balls wouldn’t stick to the painted surface. So my solution was to wrap the rings in black yarn!

Once they were yarn-wrapped, it was really simple to hot glue the balls in place! I used the pack of black and white balls for the outer ring, and the Halloween pack for the inner ring. I love how they turned out!

To attach the two rings together, I simply glued a small section of ribbon at the top so the middle ring would hang down about 3 inches. I also added this cute felt bat I found at the craft store.  Once that was in place, I tied a bow and glued it at the very top of the wreath. That’s it! What do you think?
