I’m a mom of five now. I have been for almost a year, but it’s really starting to become apparent that this last addition to our family has been harder than I thought it would be. It’s not even my baby because for the most part he is an angel, maybe it’s just a sheer numbers thing. I am literally responsible for the well being of 5 human beings, and quite honestly, it’s taking a toll on me physically that I didn’t expect. I’m sleeping less, running around more, and I just don’t have as much time in the day for myself. There are days when I wear a t shirt and leggings all day and I’m okay with that, but sometimes I still like to look presentable and a little bit fashionable! So, just in case there are any other mamas out there who feel like they can’t find the time to dress like we did when we were young and only had one kid, these tips are for you!
- Find things you are COMFORTABLE in. There are a ton of trendy clothes right now that are just as comfy as your pair of favorite sweats, but look good enough to wear to parent teacher conference or lunch with your girlfriends. My favorite find of this season has been this soft, stretchy knit dress by Reborn J. There are so many things I love about this dress. First, I literally feel like I’m wearing pajamas when I have it on. Second, it’s actually long enough for me to be comfortably modest. Third, it has pockets!!! Need I say more?? I got this dress from one of my favorite online boutiques, Mulberry Drive. They have the cutest clothes for way less than the local shops in my area!
- Stretchy pants aren’t just for old ladies. Maybe it’s because I’m not quite back into my pre-pregnancy size yet I have not felt guilty about buying elastic waist pants. I’m embracing anything that makes me feel good about my body the way it is right now. I have two favorite staples in the stretchy pant department. First up are these Rockstar jeggings from Old Navy. They look the same as the regular Rockstar jeans but without the uncomfortable button and potential muffin top! Haha. They come in several colors and rinse styles. Seriously worth every penny.
My other favorite are these Matty M leggings from Costco. I just recently discovered them, and I may or may not have worn them for 2 straight days and even slept in them! They are so comfortable!! And they suck all my fat in and make me feel skinny. - When you don’t have time for anything else, ACCESSORIZE! Let’s be real, there are many days when I don’t have time to wash my hair or do full makeup, or any makeup at all. On those days when you’re rushing to make it out the door, a great accessory can make you feel put together. My two favorites this Fall are my gray wool hat from Bohme, and this gorgeous wood watch by JORD.
When I saw the beautiful Purpleheart wood of the Cora watch, I knew it would be perfect for my Fall wardrobe! The wine color of the wood is so gorgeous, here is a picture of it in the sunlight:
Amazing, right?? And the face is Mother of Pearl so it’s versatile enough to go with your entire wardrobe. I love having a unique watch that I know will last and be with me for a long time to come.
