DIY Rainbow Treats & Printables for Spring!

February 27, 2014 16 Comments Holly & Nat

Spring is right around the corner, and with it comes some of my favorite reasons to make treats for all the people who are important to me. Easter, Teacher Appreciation week, and Spring classroom parties are just a few occasions I’m getting ready for. One of our favorite easy gift creations is pairing candy with a cute printable tag. Here is one of our colorful gift ideas, perfect for kids:

I don’t have candy around the house a lot, so it is always a fun treat when we get to pick it out at the store. Some of my kids’ all time favorites are Skittles and Starburst, so we were excited to find a huge combo pack of them together at SAM’s Club this week.

This 30-count pack is perfect for us to make teacher gifts and treats for my daughter’s preschool party. Skittles and Starburst are such colorful candies, I decided to play on the rainbow theme. I bought some clear plastic gumball tubes at my local party store, and found these adorable mini pinwheels there as well.

To create the rainbow effect inside the tube, I used all of the original Skittles colors, as well as blue and pink from the Wild Berry Skittles.

I started with purple, and added 12 of each color of Skittle, until I reached the top of the gumball tube. (There’s only room for 8 pink Skittles at the top!) Then I taped the pinwheel to the back of the tube,  and tied on this “I’m over the RAINBOW for you” tag with some red and white twine.

For an easy classroom party treat, you can also just print out the tags and attach them to a package of Skittles with decorative tape. Here is a version of the same gift, but with Starburst candies instead:

We also created another gift tag that can go along with either of these treats… “You Color my World!”

Fill a cute gift bag with several treats and attach the tag! Or, for a Teacher Gift idea, add some colored pencils, crayons, or No. 2 pencils in fun colors:

Here are both versions of our tags:

We hope you can use these for some fun gifts this Spring!

How beautiful! I love the idea of putting it in the tubes so you can see what’s inside! The pinwheel just makes it perfect, though lol 🙂 Thanks for sharing the printables so we can make these at home! I’ll let my little one do this. He’s really going to enjoy it!

What a great idea! Unfortunately they don’t let us bring “homemade” treats into the schools where I live but I could see making this for a Rainbow Themed party
