I know everyone is busting out their Christmas ideas and decor, so I figured I better hurry up and share my Thanksgiving mantel with you guys. I wanted to go for a simple, gold and white color combination this year and I am loving how it came together!
The color scheme was inspired by my new favorite chair and my upcycled sequin pillow {that I made from a thrifted dress!} If you haven’t read that post, you can find it here. I love the combo of the black and neutral fabric, with the metallic shine of the silver & gold sequins:
To add some “shine” to my white and gold color scheme, I decided to jazz up a few of my pumpkins. I scored all of these pumpkins after Halloween for 75% off, then painted them white and gold.
To add some pattern and visual interest to these plain white pumpkins, I used a gold paint marker and gold glitter puffy paint {only 99 cents!}
I created a herringbone pattern with the paint marker by drawing vertical lines to section off the pumpkin, and then added the pattern in each section. When I was done it kind of looked like a spiderweb (which was NOT the look I was going for!) so I colored in some of the pattern in solid gold. Much better 🙂
I used the gold glitter puffy paint to create 3D dots for my “confetti” pumpkin. It was really easy and only took about 5 minutes to finish the entire design.
And the centerpiece of the mantel, I’m sure you noticed, is another amazing chalkboard design from the Caravan Shoppe. I really can’t get enough of their stuff! This quote is part of a Thanksgiving pack that includes two large chalk quotes, a chalkboard turkey {gobble, gobble} two placemat designs, and some really cute stickers! You can find the entire set here.
The quote I used is an engineering print (from Staples) in a 24″ x 36″ size. It cost me less than $4 to print! I used double-stick tape to attach the print to this darling polka dot wrapping paper (from TJ Maxx) and stuck it to the mantel. I literally hot glued it up there and it took me about 2 minutes. Hot glue is the only thing that will stick to the rock on my mantel, but don’t worry it comes off! It was SO simple and it looks SO cute! There are tons of ways you can use these large chalkboard prints. {Check out how my burlap wall hanging that I did last month.} It really makes a huge impact in the room!
I am enjoying these next few weeks before Thanksgiving {my favorite holiday!} and won’t be getting out my Christmas decorations until the day after 🙂 We will have a quiet Thanksgiving this year, since we can’t travel with our new baby girl. It will be a nice weekend filled with my favorite foods, playing games with the family, and hopefully some Black Friday shopping! What are your plans?
If you are looking for some fun activities for the kiddos, here are a few of our free printables sure to entertain them before the big dinner:

I missed you having your baby! Congratulations Holly!! I love your Thanksgiving mantel AND that chair! We are having a quiet Thanksgiving this year too. It will be our first one that’s just with us, and not any other family. I love big ones with lots of family but I’m kind of excited to have one with just is and the kids this year. I hope you are doing well! I’m going to look back through your old posts to see if I can find a picture of your new baby! Congrats again, I’m so happy for you!!
