{Be Thankful} Chalkboard & Mantel

November 14, 2012 3 Comments Holly & Nat

This is my favorite time of year… Thanksgiving and my birthday coming up in the same week! I always seem to get a week-long celebration with the break from school & work, lots of pie, late night game-playing with family, and of course, the shopping! Today I thought I’d share my simple Thanksgiving Mantel with you.

Do you remember this chalkboard I made from thrift store art?

I orginally made it for my Halloween Mantel:

But I wanted to change it up a little for Thanksgiving and try my hand at some chalk lettering.

I love how smooth the surface of the glass is… it is so easy to write and draw with chalk! {Seriously, if you see an ugly piece of art for cheap…snatch it up and make one of these!} Best $2 I ever spent.

I added some pumpkins, fall berries, my DIY Arrow, and Mason jar candle lanterns to complete the look.

The other area I gave a quick update is the huge chalkboard in my dining room. I like to change it out for every holiday with a new wreath and chalk quote.

So that’s it for my Thanksgiving decor!
How about you guys? Have you moved on to Christmas decorating yet, or are you waiting for after the turkey and pumpkin pie?? 🙂

Great “fonts” on the chalkboard! I’ve never thought to paint over the glass to make a chalk board – I’m trying that as soon as I can!
