Happy Friday before Christmas! Today I’m stepping out of my comfort zone and showing you some of my house… we just moved in September, and then I had my sweet baby in October so my decorating is far from finished. I guess it’s always a work in progress because I change my mind and switch things out all the time anyway! I don’t know why I am so nervous to show you guys my home. I guess I thought I would wait until every room was finished and “perfect” before I would ever blog about it. But let’s get real. I am a busy mom and I just don’t have time to make things perfect, so I am going to show you how it is today. We didn’t get invited to one of those home tours everyone was doing for Christmas, but I’m going to pretend I’m one of the cool kids and show you mine anyway!
Let’s start with the tree… my favorite part of Christmas decor! I love to sit by our tree at night and enjoy the cozy fire and white lights giving off a festive glow.
This year, I wanted a natural, snowy looking tree…. I would love to have a flocked tree someday but for now I’m happy with the different textures of white that I added to our existing ornaments. I started out with all these red ball ornaments:
I saw the darling sweater ornaments over at Lily Pad Cottage, and I knew that was my solution! I picked up a few sweaters at the thrift store, and used some materials scraps I had to transform my bright red ornaments into beautiful white “snowballs” as my kids call them 🙂
This year I gave our stockings a makeover to match the snow white tree. My 6-year-old asked me if I had painted them when saw the new stockings! I actually got new ones at DownEast Home (they were only $2.50 each!) They are Pottery Barn stockings with names embroidered on top, so I just covered the tops of the stockings with new fabric. I used blizzard fleece and flannel in natural colors to match, and secured them with hot glue! For less than $15, I have five beautiful new stockings.
Another budget-friendly item I used is this printable burlap sheet (I got a pack of three from Walmart for less than $3.) Did you know they made these?? They are laminated burlap sheets so they can run through your printer! Brilliant! I found the cute Merry and Bright printable here.

I love love love this!
It looks so beautiful!!! Thanks for sharing and giving us some great, budget friendly ideas! Merry Christmas
Love all your decor. The marquee letters are great! I’ve been making simple pillows out of placemats and napkins like your for years. Found a great winter placemat at Target (dark grey with 2 huge silver and bronze snowflakes stenciled on it) opened a tiny bit of the stitching, stuffed it with loose batting and used fabric glue to “stitch” it. All my friends think I painted it and made it. Took me about 5 minutes and $3.99. 🙂
