I’ve been meaning to get this post up in time for the 4th of July, but I’ve been just a little busy with MY SIS being in town! We’ve had so much fun spending time together and letting the cousins play. I’m pretty sure Holly is a total Super-Mama carting those 4 cuties around, moving all their stuff every few nights as she tries to visit everyone! My little family is SO excited for the 4th this week, and making these firecracker treats was a fun activity to do together. I think we’ll make more to take to the parade on Friday!
How cute are these red, white & blue Twizzlers? ** EDITED TO ADD** I just saw these at Smith’s today (also seen at Walmart!) They reminded me of a bundle of fireworks! Here’s how I made the fun cupcake toppers and also little individual treat bags:
Cut the Twizzlers in half with a sharp knife (or into thirds for the cupcake toppers) and bundle together. I used 3 sections (1 1/2 Twizzlers) for the treat bags and 2 small sections for the cupcakes. You can kind of spread apart the Pull & Peel to make one fatter bundle for the cupcakes. In the baking section at JoAnn Crafts, I found these pretzel bags and fun firework toothpicks!
I actually cut a few inches off the top of the pretzel bag so that it was only about 3/4 inch above the bundles of licorice. Then I stuck the firework toothpick in the top and tied around the bag with twine.
And, duh. You know I’m making a tag for that cute little firework!
