Happy Monday, everyone! Did you have a good weekend? Today we wanted to share some highlights from the fun we had last weekend. So...we're taking turns today. Hope that's alright!
We're also sharing some tips from our class at Build Your Blog!
Holly: Having a few days with my Sis was amazing... The best part about starting our blog together is that we get to meet up for sister weekends (and we can tell our husbands we're "working!") We did have to fit some work in, but we had a lot of fun too :) Being on Studio 5 together was one of the highlights of our trip. It is something we have always wanted to do and I am so glad we got to do a segment together. We learned a few things for our next TV appearance... We will make sure to have some Junior Mints on hand (apparently they help with dry mouth, haha!) I will never wear my hair down on camera because I have a hair-flipping problem, and Nat will work on a few more ways to wave to the camera :) If you missed the show, you can see it here:
Studio 5 Segment
on our way • wall art installed and ready to go
the gorgeous and talented Brooke Walker (we "dirtygrammed" this pic)
being dorks at KSL • where the crap did we park? • talking to Mom after the show
Nat: Yeah, that wave was SO awesome. But seriously, I'm so proud of Holly! She had about .5 seconds between when we finished the wall and when they went live and she was totally pro.
After the show we got to spend the rest of the day in bliss at City Creek with NO KIDS!
Friday night we met up with tons of bloggers at the little "meet and greet" the Six Sisters put on. It was a great way to meet new friends and catch up with old ones. (And swap business cards, of course.)
We had a yummy dinner with the cool Idaho Bloggers, then headed back to finish up our presentation for Saturday. And no late-night party is complete without these two things:
PowerPoint? Crushed it.
Holly: On Saturday we got to attend the
Build Your Blog Conference, hosted by some of our favorite blogging
sisters! Nat and I taught a class for beginning bloggers and it was so awesome to hear the positive feedback from people who attended our class. If we inspired even a few new bloggers, it was so worth it! One of the best parts of the conference was having a chance to meet up with old friends, and connect with people we had only met online. I even had a chance to reconnect with an old college friend who I hadn't seen in years!!! One girl came up to us after our class and told us she found out about our blog through her sister, who is a Senior in high school. Her sister loves our blog and reads it faithfully! That made me smile and I just felt so happy that we have been able to create something that inspires other people. The entire day was wonderful... We learned so many things that we want to start doing to make our blogging experience better.

Nat: Today we want to share the little handout we gave to the class. Our hope was that we wouldn't overwhelm anyone with advice, so we gave 5 simple things to start implementing right away.

Holly: The best advice I took away came from Camille.... she told us not to sell ourselves short. And to work SMARTER, not HARDER. It is okay to be compensated for the time and money that we put into our blog. We are spending time away from our families and we want to be smarter about how we use that time, so we can continue to do what we love. {And guess what? It's OK to make money while you're doing it!}
Nat: We learned so much at Build Your Blog - it was so worth the trip! But we know there are lots who couldn't make it.
Guess what? The awesome Six Sisters are actually offering all the audio recordings of each class! The downloads should be available this week on sixsistersstuff.com (free for conference-goers, small fee for everyone else) We're so excited to hear the classes we missed at the conference. And now the countdown begins for our next "girl's weekend"... SNAP!
