Find out how I made it.... {in only a few hours and for less than $5!}
I started out with a piece of white foam board {I got mine at Dollar Tree... I use these for everything!} I already had some double-stick tape on hand, as well as cardstock. I did end up purchasing about 5 or 6 sheets of paper to get the colors I wanted, but I had almost double the amount of triangles I needed! I would say six sheets of 12x12 cardstock would be plenty for this project.
I cut my cardstock into 4" squares {using a paper die cut machine} and then sliced those in half to create my triangles. It is important to get all the triangles as close to the same size as possible for your pattern to look good. I cut all of my triangles out in about an hour, and then it took me another hour to place them and adhere them in place.
I laid out my pattern 2 columns at a time to make sure I liked the colors and direction of the triangles. Then I stuck each piece down with two pieces of double stick tape. Here's what it looked like when I was done:
For the size of my triangles, there was about 2 inches left at the end of the foam board, so I just cut it carefully with an exacto knife to get a smooth edge. That's it! I love that the foam board is so light {but it still has a canvas look}... you could easily hang it on the wall, or just prop it up on a dresser or mantel like I did:

ReplyDeleteThis looks so great! I did something similar before with paint chips but my triangles were anything but uniform! I may have to try again seeing how great yours looks.
ReplyDeleteI really love this! My mind is reeling now....i could never get perfectly cut pieces though, I'd have to go to a place to use a die cut...
