Liberty Wreath

Ever since I made that cute paper medallion for my Uncle Sam hat a few weeks ago, I've been dying to make more for a 4th of July wreath. I already had some red-and-white polka dot material on hand, so this week I just busted it out.

This was my first time trying the pool noodle method for creating a wreath form. It was super easy {and cheap!} I'll definitely be doing more of these in the future.

1. Trim your pool noodle to make it fit the final size for your wreath {I cut about 6 inches off mine}
2. Using duct tape, tape the ends of the noodle together to create a circle
3. Start wrapping you fabric strips around the noodle and secure with hot glue {you'll want to try to glue fabric to fabric so you don't melt the plastic!}

I used the same method for covering this wreath as I did with my Spring Butterfly Wreath.

Once my wreath form was completely wrapped in fabric, I started adding red and blue paper medallions, embellished with a few of our freedom printable tags.

One of my favorite things turned out to be a little ribbon flower I made out of red-white-and-blue striped ribbon. I gathered it up and glued it in the center, it looks like a mini patriotic bunting!

Here's the final result:

I am excited to have this done and my chalkboard updated for the summer. I think I'll keep this up even after the 4th... it's perfect for the Olympics too!

One final look:

Do you guys have any fun plans for the 4th next week? We'll be going to our local fireworks show {rated one of the top 10 in the country!} for the first time since we moved here two years ago. I'm sure we'll throw in a barbeque and some sparklers in the mix :) Low-key holidays are the best! Hope you all enjoy yours!

{Uncle Sam Hat} and 4th of July Printables!

How cute is this Uncle Sam hat?? I died when my friend Adrienne {Free Time Frolics} first showed it to me... She has a pattern to make these cute fabric hats, and being the amazing seamstress (and great friend) she is, she offered to make me one!

She gave me the plain red-and-white striped hat, and I got to gussy it up a little for the 4th of July! I made a paper medallion for the front of the hat, and designed the {4th} tag to attach to the center. These circle tags are perfect for a 2" punch, and would be a festive addition to any patriotic celebration:

I smile every time I see this hat now. Here is a look at the front and back views:

The ribbons on the back are from a hair bow I bought in the Target Dollar Spot!
Now I have to show it to you on my adorable model :)

Too cute!

Have you made anything festive for the 4th yet? For some fun ideas, take a look at our Celebrate the 4th Pinterest board. Happy Wednesday!
