Idaho Bloggers Night {Poppyseed Projects}

One of the best parts of SNAP was meeting this girl. I think we are long-lost design sisters! McKenzie put together a group of Idaho Bloggers so now we have some local blog girls to network and share ideas with! We had our very first meeting in July, sponsored by Poppyseed Projects. Loved hanging out with these cute girls:
McKenzie {Girl Loves Glam} Adrienne {Freetime Frolics} and Ashley {Flats to Flip Flops}

Thanks Ashely and Adrienne for taking pictures that night (I forgot my camera!)

It was really fun to see how we all put our own twist on the photo plaques... Ashely used a full photo and trimmed it to fit the shape of the plaque, McKenzie applied a chevron design with vinyl and then hand-painted a quote on top. Adrienne cut some spring flowers and vinyl words with her Silhouette and used them as a reverse stencil. They all turned out super cute!

I had a 4x6 picture of my kids with their cousins and I used it to create a "frame-within-a-frame" look on my plaque. I framed out the picture with a paper frame I picked up at a scrapbook store, then I embellished it with the words Twenty Twelve. Now we'll always remember when this pic was taken :)

For the base of the plaque, I covered it with a piece of coral scrapbook paper I had in my stash. I applied the paper with mod podge, then sanded the edges with a nail file. {One of my favorite tricks!} I used Poppyseed's Print Mounting Glue to adhere the picture, frame and embellishments. Then I went over the entire surface with a paintbrush and their Photo Texture Cream. I love this stuff! Here is a closer look at the texture it creates:

Thank you Poppyseed Projects for sending us these fun photo plaques! I can't wait for our next Idaho Bloggers Guild meeting :) Have a great weekend everyone!
