Kids Olympic Craft: Gold Medal Cereal Necklace

At my house we've been looking forward to this particular Friday night for weeks! It's the start of the 2012 Summer Olympics! Today I'm sharing something you can do as a family while you watch the opening ceremonies or any of the events that are coming in the next weeks. It's a twist on the preschool-classic Fruit Loop necklace :)

I found this "Special Edition" red, white & blue cereal that was perfect for Olympic Medals. 

{But regular Fruit Loops will look just as cute!}

The little gold medals are from the Dollar Store - in the party favors section : 8 for $1. 

To make it easier for cute little hands to thread the cereal on to the string, tightly wrap tape around one end. I tied an extra medal to the other end so the cereal wouldn't fall off and then just cut it off before we tied the necklace together.

My daughter was pretty darn excited to wear her "Gold Medal!"

You could easily put together a few "kits" to give to friends for their own Olympic celebrations! 

(I'm all for giving moms a 10 minute break!)
