We are sharing the final project in our Washi Tape series today... hope you've enjoyed it! Tomorrow we'll finish up with a round-up of some of our favorite washi ideas {one of them might be yours!}
Today I'm going to show you how to take plain accessories and add some pizazz with your washi tape. Here's what I started with:
2 wooden bangle bracelets {Target} and a skinny leather belt {TJ Maxx.} First, I decided I wanted to add some color to my wardrobe by transforming this plain brown leather belt....
{1} Skinny leather belt - clearance find! {2} I applied my turquoise washi tape (from Target) to the surface of the belt, smoothing it out as I went. {3} Next, I marked spots for the holes, and carefully lifting it up, I punched holes in the washi tape. {4} I re-applied the tape and smoothed it out. {5} My finished turquoise belt!! This is where things started to go wrong....
I realized that the leather was too thick and my belt was too stiff. When I tried it on and had to bend the belt to buckle it, the washi tape ripped!! {6}
So, I'm sharing with you a project FAIL today :) But, didn't it look pretty?
I think if you tried this with a different type of belt... one of those thin, plastic belts it would probably work. But, alas, I don't have one of those in my closet! It was a nice idea :) The other project I tried was SUPER easy and worked great! My washi tape bracelets:
The best part is, you can just unravel your tape when you are sick of it, and change it out for a new color!
Have you washi-ed anything this week? {Go here if you've missed any of our other washi tape ideas!}

Love those bracelets! Sorry the belt idea didn't work out. Megan
ReplyDeleteAll I've washi'd this week so far is my daughters little plastic rock container. She found the "pretty tape" and wanted to use it so we quickly added a little bit to it. Hopefully, I'll get to better projects this weekend!
ReplyDeleteLOVE the belt! So simple & cute!

Bummer that the tape ripped on the belt. It sure looks pretty before it ripped. The round bracelt is funky in it's way. The square one is fantastic. thank you for sharing
