Cutie Pie {button art}

I made these "cutie pie" invitations over the weekend for a joint baby shower we're throwing for 2 of our Young Women leaders. One is having a girl, one is having a boy, so I thought this would be a good gender-neutral theme :) {Thanks for the idea Emily!}

I have also started working on a few projects for the shower decor, and I have one to share with you today. I signed up to participate in the Crafterbowl over at Pinkapotamus... and this week I'm up against Serendipty and Spice! Our challenge was to create something with "buttons" and I thought it would be a perfect excuse to create a cutom piece of artwork for the baby shower. {I love multi-tasking!}

Pretty cute, right?

I started out with a package of assorted red buttons, a flat canvas, some fabric scraps, chipboard stickers, felt, thread, and of course, hot glue!

I covered the canvas with a piece of fabric and inserted it in an 8x10 frame {without the glass}. I cut out my felt to create the pie, then glued it in place. Next, I glued on my buttons {cherries}, added the letters, and created a mini triangle banner for the finishing touch!

Here is a closeup of the buttons. I stitched a few of the centers with thread but most of them I just left plain and glued on :)

One more look...

  28. I love the color scheme in this. Where did you get your fabrics? I can't tell if that is more of a teal or an aquamarine blue. I want to do my daughters room in those exact colors.

    1. I got my fabric at Home Fabrics, they have an awesome selection of cotton prints in the back that are only $2.99 a yard! The blue on the small polka dot and small blue flowers {on white} is what I would call a robin's egg blue.... the other one that is all blue is more of a turquoise color. But I thought they all looked cute together! Hope you read this, I didn't have an email address to contact you :) Good luck with your daughter's room!
