$5 Friday {Easy Dry-Erase Menu Planner}

Hiiii! If you know Holly & I, you know that should be said in a really high voice and dragged out for about 10 seconds. I've been somewhat MIA on the blog lately because of a little move across town and no internet until today! I'm excited to be back and am really looking forward to a great 2012.

Today I have a quick little project and printable for you. I'll admit it's not the most original idea, but I added a few things top spruce it up.  I actually made this for one of my best friends, and it was an easy afternoon project to pull together before her birthday party the same night!

I started with a 8x10 frame that was looking sad, but you could easily find something similar while on a thrifting trip. Or try "shopping your house" and see what you already have! This frame was actually cheap-o plastic, which ended up working nicely since I wanted it to be light enough to hang on the fridge.

Since it was plastic, I did use some Kilz primer before spray painting. Two coats of Krylon's Blue Ocean Breeze and it was already looking a million times better!

I quickly typed up a list of the days of the week and then started going through my stash of scrapbook paper. It would look great on plain white cardstock, too! I found a cute notebook paper print (12x12) and cut it to 8.5x11 before running it through my printer. Here's my favorite part: I cut a couple little triangles from more scraps and sewed those right onto the paper. SO easy! (Just don't look too close at the stitching. I got an awesome new sewing machine for Christmas and WILL learn how to sew this year!)

Trim the paper one more time to 8x10 before replacing it and the glass into the frame. Attach a dry-erase marker with a Velcro sticky dot and you're done! You can either put it on the kitchen counter or glue strong magnets to the back like I did so my friend could put it on her fridge!

If you have the paint lying around, you could make this for less than $5 easily. Or find a cute frame that won't need to be painted! Either way it's a fun little way to start being more organized for the new year!
